Interviu cu Milow despre primul concert in Romania (B\’Estfest 2012)

Milow va face show sambata seara la B\’Estfest Summer Camp 2012 langa Bucuresti insa pana atunci ne-a dat un interviu exclusiv in care am vorbit despre asteptarile pe care ar trebui sa le avem de la prima sa vizita in Romania.

1. Hey, Milow! Cum te simti in legatura cu venirea ta in Romania?

Grozav, in sfarsit!

4. Stiu ca vei lansa un EP in SUA in cateva zile.

EP-ul care va fi lansat in SUA va include melodii care au fost deja lansate in

Europa. Cu toate astea, vom canta o piesa noua la B\’Estfest, e un track care se numeste Where My Head Used To Be si va aparea pe noul album live From North to South (Live) ce va fi lansat in toata Europa la finalul verii.

1. Hey, Milow! How do you feel about coming to Romania?

Great! finally! I\’ve never been to Romania before so I hope that I will have some time to visit Bucharest before my concert at B\’Estfest. I\’ve heard and read so many great things about Romania, that I\’m really curious to finally see it.

2. Everyone knows you for Ayo Technology but I\’m sure that’s not your favourite song from all the songs you\’ve ever sang. If you were to choose a single that you released that defines you as an artist,  what would that song be?

Son\’ and \’KGB\’, the opening and closing tracks on my latest album mean probably the most because lyrically they dig deeper and are the most personal songs I\’ve ever written, and musically they\’re expanding new horizons. But if I had to pick one song, I would say You Don\’t Know
You Don\’t Know is probably the most important song I\’ve ever written, simply because it helped me to define my own sound and because it launched my career in Belgium and Europe. The lyrics were written in a stream of consciousness on a bizarre night out with a bunch of friends and strangers. I was in my early twenties when I wrote the first version of this song (the original title was Satellites in March), and it took me many years of rewriting it and many failed attempts at nailing it in the recording studio, before it finally became this version, that I still love and I have performed at every concert over the years. Even though I was trying to write a song about meeting strangers and growing apart from people close to me, for me it will always be the song that sums up how it felt for me to be young and full of doubts about the future.

3. How do you like playing at the open air festivals like B\’Estfest?
I simply love it. The summer of 2012 is my 6th (!) summer in a row where I will play at least 20 open air summer dates. So I feel very much at home at festivals, and I love to play bigger stages after touring in smaller club venues.

4. I know you\’re releasing a new EP in the US in a few days. Are you going to play any new songs off it for us at B\’Estfest?
The EP that will be released in the US actually consists of songs that have already been released in Europe. However, we will play 1 brand new song at B\’Estfest, it’s a track called Where My Head Used To Be and it will be featured on my new live album From North to South (Live) that will be released all over Europe after the summer.

5. Have you thought about making another special cover for a hip-hop song in the future?
Not really. Although I like playing covers from time to time, due to the extreme success of Ayo Technology, I have decided not to do any more covers in the near future, to keep the focus on my own songs. That’s a bigger challenge for me. I\’m really proud of my cover of \’Ayo Technology\’, and very grateful because the success of my cover opened a lot of doors for my music, my concerts, my career. But I am not going to record another hip hop or R&B cover song in the future. That just wouldn\’t be a challenge for me, I\’d rather look for a different kind of challenge, for example, to keep releasing songs that I wrote myself, to keep touring all over the world, to keep going to countries with my music where I\’ve never been before.
