Asa cum v-am spus in teaserul de zilele trecute, am stat de vorba cu Fergie de la Black Eyed Peas la telefon! A fost una dintre cele mai interesante experiente de pana acum.

Monden.info este singura publicatie din Romania care a luat parte la sesiunea de interviuri prin telefon ce a avut loc pe 1 decembrie. Motivatia acestui interviu este campania Avon Voices care a fost lansata zilele trecute si despre care v-am scris aici.

Fergie e o cantareata foarte talentata, compune si scrie melodii, e designer de haine si e si actrita. Are sase premii Grammy in palmares si este membru al unuia dintre cele mai de succes grupuri muzicale din ultimii ani: The Black Eyed Peas. Atunci cand e pe scena genereaza energia necesara pentru a lumina intregi stadioane din intreaga lume. Poate de aceea urmatorul turneu BEP se va desfasura numai pe stadioane.

Artista a inceput colaborarea cu Avon pentru parfumul sau lansat in acest an – Outspoken. A fost un proiect reusit asa ca Avon i-au propus lui Fergie sa faca parte din juriul concursului Avon Voices.

In timpul interviului, Fergie a fost foarte draguta, a transmis energie pozitiva prin vocea sa iar eu am fost singurul dintre jurnalistii care au intrat in direct caruia artista i-a zis „Hi!” :)). Intrebarile au fost trimise dinainte si aprobate de managementul artistei. Pozele din acest articol au fost facute imediat dupa sesiunea de interviuri, la sediul Avon din New York. Hi, Fergie! How are you? Hi! Good, I’m good, I’m in New York right now.

Why did you join Avon Voices? I have to say, Avon’s ongoing dedication to women is unmatched. As a woman, and an artist, I deeply respect Avon’s commitment. And I’m so pleased to be on the judge’s panel for Avon Voices. This program will offer women a real chance to have their voices be heard around the world. How cool. This is a real opportunity for undiscovered talent to go for it.

If you were going to participate in Avon Voices and you were not known as a singer, which song would you choose and why? Well, I’m very ambitious so I would probably enter both competitions: write a song for one of them and then for the singing one it would depend on what mood I wanted to present. If I felt like my rock voice is really strong I would pick a rock song. If my strength said that I wanna be a diva, I would go for a Whitney Houston or Celine Dion song. I think that what’s really important for this competition is that each individual to pick the song that’s right for them. Some people have a quirkier voice and they don’t have enough range but they’re superstars on their own right and have that charisma. You really have to pick your best attribute and focus on that.

What do you think of Cheryl Cole? Do you think she could break in the US? I don’t think Cheryl Cole would have a problem breaking anywhere. She’s an immensely talented artist and a great person.

Knowing that you are involved in this competition would you consider becoming a producer or a talent scout of new artists? I feel like I’m already a talent scout with Avon Voices. It’s so exciting because this is going on in over 60 countries and it’s been in 40 million brochures. I’m thrilled to see the type of talent that we are going to get. Not everyone lives in New York and Los Angeles. That’s the beauty of the internet and that’s the beauty of this competition. This talent could come from anywhere. I’m thrilled. This is our first year doing it and if Avon would ask me to be a judge again, I would definitely live up to the task.

Which are the 3 secrets to become a superstar? To become a superstar you gotta have some sort of talent or skill, whatever that may be: whether it is performing, dancing, acting, whichever you choose. There are so many areas where you can become a superstar from that you just have to pick your best attribute. I don’t know if there are secrets but you have to stay original and stay true to yourself. When you are true to yourself people feel that and they will feel it from you, naturally. Also, I think these days you should definitely use the internet: a competition like Avon Voices to get your voice heard.

Which are the most important lessons you have learned throughout your career? I learned that balance is the key to stay sane in this business. So make sure you get enough time for yourself and try not to overwork yourself. You should also have your boundaries set so you could be in touch with the normal things and you can always give 100%.

Which were your favorite 3 songs as a young girl? As a young girl, I loved Tomorrow by Annie from the play Annie. I used to study Andrea McArtle, the original Annie voice. She has a really strong voice and I used to imitate her. I loved She Works Hard For The Money by Donna Summer. I also loved Laura Branigan – Gloria. Another song was Borderline from Madonna.

Which has been the toughest moment in your career? Has you ever thought about giving it up? Since I joined the Black Eyed Peas everything took off. Before that, I was in this group for 11 years called Wild Orchids. We worked really hard but it just didn’t have the same connection as Black Eyed Peas does. I remember it was a radio show we agreed to do, it was at a country fair. We weren’t on a main stage, it was this little platform that they put right next to where they kept all the pigs and they had all the pigs and the hair and we were on our heels and it was kind of slipping on the hair. And there were 3 fans that showed out for us and we were 3 girls in the group so it was kind of embarassing. It was the most humiliating moment but we stood out there for our 3 fans and we performed some songs. Then we got in the car and we went like „we need to change our plan” :)).

De ce ai intrat in competitia Avon Voices? Dedicatia continua a celor de la Avon pentru femei este fara egal. Atat ca femeie cat si ca artist, am un respect profund pentru angajamentul Avon. Sunt foarte incantata sa fac parte din juriul Avon Voices. Aceasta competitie ofera femeilor o sansa reala sa-si faca vocea auzita in intreaga lume. E o adevarata oportunitate pentru talentele nedescoperite sa iasa in fata.

Daca ai participa in Avon Voices si nu ai fi cunoscuta, ce piesa ai alege si de ce? Sunt foarte ambitioasa si probabil as intra in ambele competitii: as scrie un cantec pentru una si pentru cea de cantat, depinde de starea pe care vreau sa o transmit. Daca simt ca vocea mea e mai rock si e puternica, as alege o piesa rock. Daca as simti ca vreau sa cant ca o diva, as merge pe varianta Whitney Houston sau Celine Dion. Cred ca e foarte important ca fiecare individ sa aleaga melodia care li se potriveste. Unii oameni au o vocea mai ciudata si nu ating o gama larga de sunete insa sunt superstaruri pe partea lor si au carisma. Trebuie sa-ti alegi cel mai mare atu si sa te concentrezi pe el.

Ce parere ai de Cheryl Cole? Crezi ca va reusi sa aiba succes in SUA? Nu cred ca Cheryl Cole va avea o problema in a avea succes oriunde. Este un artist incredibil de talentat si o persoana grozava.

Fiind implicata in aceasta competitie, te-ai gandit sa devii producator muzical sau cautator de talente noi? Cred ca deja sunt un cautator de talente cu Avon Voices. Ma entuziasmeaza foarte tare pentru ca se desfasoara in peste 60 de tari si a aparut in 40 de milioane de brosuri. Sunt incantata sa vad ce talente se vor inscrie in concurs. Nu toata lumea traieste in New York si Los Angeles iar asta e partea frumoasa a internetului si a acestei competitii. Talentele pot veni din orice colt al lumii. E primul an in care facem concursul acesta insa daca Avon mi-ar cere sa fiu din nou in juriu, cu siguranta as fi acolo.

Care sunt cele 3 secrete pentru a deveni un superstar? Pentru a fi un superstar trebui sa ai un talent, oricare ar fi el: performing, dans, actorie, orice alegi tu. Sunt multe locuri in care poti deveni un superstar. Trebuie doar sa-ti alegi cel mai bun atu. Nu stiu daca sunt neaparat secrete insa trebuie sa fii original si sincer cu tine insuti. Cand esti sincer cu tine, oamenii simt asta. De asemenea, cred ca in prezent ar trebui sa te folosesti de internet: o competitie ca Avon Voices in care sa-ti faci vocea auzita.

Care sunt cele mai importante lectii pe care le-ai invatat in cariera? Am invatat ca echilibrul este cheia in a ramane sanatos, in industria asta. Asa ca asigura-te ca ai destul timp pentru tine si nu munci peste puterile tale. Ar trebui sa ai niste limite, sa fii in contact cu lucrurile normale si sa dai mereu 100%.

Care erau cele 3 cantece care iti placeau cand erai copil? Mi-a placut Tomorrow de Annie din piesa Annie. Am studiat-o pe Andrea McArtle, vocea originala a lui Annie. Are o voce foarte puternica si obisnuiam sa o imit. Mi-a placut She Works Hard For The Money de Donna Summer. Eram indragostita de Laura Branigan – Gloria. Inca o melodie era Borderline de la Madonna.

Care a fost cel mai greu moment din cariera ta? Te-ai gandit vreodata sa renunti? De cand am intrat in Black Eyed Peas, totul a evoluat. Inainte de asta, am fost in trupa Wild Orchids pentru 11 ani. Munceam foarte mult insa nu aveam acelasi impact pe care il au BEP. Imi aminte ca am fost de acord sa cantam la un show radio care era la un targ de la tara. Nu era o scena principala, era o mica platforma asezata exact langa locul unde tineau porci si era par peste tot iar noi eram pe tocuri si alunecam pe par. Iar in public erau numai 3 fani in conditiile in care noi eram 3 fete in trupa. A fost rusinos si unul dintre cele mai umilitoare momente insa am stat acolo pentru cei 3 fani si am cantat niste piese. Apoi ne-am urcat in masina si ne-am zis „trebuie sa ne schimbam planurile” :)).
